J'Solai Rem

Age: 81
Gender: Male
Race/Nationality: Bajoran

Description: 5'10" tall. White hair cropped closely to disguise its thinness. Blue eyes which are starting to gray. Rem tends to portliness but a decade of moderate exercise keeps him merely thick-trunked.

History: Rem is an academic. He was finishing a thesis on international government studies at university on Bajor (to complement his first doctorate in general political theory) when the Cardassian occupation began. He was one of the few Bajorans who prospered from the occupation, as his disinterest in actual Bajoran politics and the Cardassian sanction of many of his high-ranking colleagues allowed him to rise quickly among the ranks of Bajoran social scientists. By the end of the occupation, Rem had been made Chief Administrator of the Bajoran Institute of Science. After the Cardassian withdrawal from Bajor, Rem was denounced by many members of the Provisional Government as a collaborator. As he was not directly involved in the abuse or murder of Bajoran citizens, no actual charges were ever brought against him, but he was persuaded to step down as the administrator of the Institute. Shunned by Bajoran society and his former peers, Rem found it impossible to continue working on Bajor. Instead he emigrated first to Vulcan and later to Earth where the political climate was much more willing permit him to teach and publish.

He found work as a university professor on Earth, and was occasionally invited to lecture and teach special courses at Starfleet Academy. Rem's contacts from his time in the Federation and his stature as a professor of international politics and relations led to his suggestion for the Head of Cultural Affairs position within the Project. His background allowed him consideration as a neutral representative who could be tolerated by all of the Project members, including the Cardassians. The strongest objections to his selection have come from Bajoran representatives who still resent his collaboration and perceived betrayal of his own people.

Noah

Name:Noah
Age: 3
Gender: n/a
Race/Nationality: Genetic Construct/Hologram

Description: Noah is the holographic avatar of the ship. Noah runs navigation and the shipboard computers. He is protective of his precious living cargo and will do anything to get to the Andromeda Galaxy with them intact.

History: The bioshell was chosen as a design as it was at once more durable and adaptable than a comparable inanimate hull. Since becoming aware, Noah has enjoyed the company of the many and varied 'little ones' that have worked on the project.

Anything Else?:
Just don't call him 'computer'. He hates that. :-P
