Star Trek: Andromeda

The Mission

After the Borg War necessitated an alliance between former enemy empires, it was decided that, should the war effort fail, there needed to be some way for their cultures to survive.  It was the Vulcans who first conceived of the project and the other non-Federation races quickly followed suit.

This collective effort under the Milky Way Alliance saw the creation of a generation ship built to sustain a viable population of every living species in the Milky Way for the 1500 year journey to Andromeda.  The decks (called spheres for their onion like layer arrangement on the spherical ship) are built upon advanced holotechnology to replicate the natural environment for each specie's homeworld. There are approximately 100 members of each species on board and around 1000 different species divided in around 20 species per deck.

In addition, the ship contains a Library containing the collected knowledge of the Milky Way. Also on board is a genetic database containing samples taken from a majority of the galaxy's flora and fauna.

The Mission is simple. Survive the journey to settle a new galaxy.
